Bio

Carlos Jacanamijoy holds a Master’s degree in Fine Arts from the Universidad Nacional de Colombia.

He studied Philosophy and Literature at the Universidad de la Salle and holds a Master’s degree in Cultural Studies from the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana, graduating Suma Cum Laude with a recommendation for thesis publication. He has held solo exhibitions at the Smithsonian Institution in New York and Washington, D.C., Casa de América in Madrid, Spain, the Working People’s Cultural Palace in Beijing, China, and the United Nations Office at Geneva, Switzerland, among others. In 2013, the Bogotá Museum of Modern Art presented his first retrospective, titled «Magic, Memory, and Color.»

Seven books have been published about his work, and his pieces are included in public and private collections across Colombia, France, Germany, England, Venezuela, Mexico, and the United States.
